...out with Capt. Jim of Maya's Westside Charters...the water was like liquid silver, it was that calm...
...out to Kelp Reef, a common travel path for Transient killer whales...none around, but there were some Steller sea lions hauled out and a couple in the water...
...for some unknown reason I took a picture of the bald eagle who was on the marker...and later realized I had captured his/her nictitating membrane...
...a raccoon, some Canada Geese, oyster catchers, and Mouflon lambs...
...some slow motion Dall's porpoise and slow motion Steller sea lions...
...we pulled back into the harbor...it wasn't 20 minutes later when someone found whales!...they were coming across Haro Strait heading for San Juan Island...
...they turned north and headed up island, passing Deadman Bay...they were in slow motion just like the Dall's porpoise and the Steller sea lions had been...
...they passed Lime Kiln Lighthouse and not too far north of there headed offshore toward Kelp Reef - we had been there earlier in the day with no whales about...
...I have a great zoom on my new lens - this image is really cropped...
...they continued to move up island...and we headed on to the harbor...
...these were T65A, T65A2, T65A3 and T65A4, T49B, T49B2 and T49A2...
...see next post for a clip of the whales...
