6-8-13 Patience Pays Off!

Saturday, June 8th
...while talking on the phone I hear - "whales are coming!"...at the same time I start hearing "click...click...click"-whales echolocating...off and running to the park..I wanted to know who was where, especially after the last couple days of mixed up whales...rephrase that to mixed up people!

...it was Group A, as I call them...flat water, beautiful lighting...nice...ones and twos or small groups...it wasn't long before more were coming down...it was Group B...
...I waited on the shore figuring the whales would be back up in a while...someone asked about how long it would be...he didn't seem to want to have to wait on the whales...well, I wonder if he got to see them...at first they were quite a ways off shore and just before Deadman Bay they began to angle in...some angled in so close to shore...they don't do this all the time, but when they do it's quite stunning...
...Tahlequah J-35 and Notch J-47 - mom and son...
...
...as the whales passed by the lighthouse Samish J-14 made a big leap!

...out on Maya's Westside Charters for a late afternoon trip - what a treat!...Group A was up ahead of Group B by a mile or less...
...the lighting...wonderful, yet challenging for me to get good images...here's a video snippet...

...some whales seemed to be in a resting pattern in the middle of other whales who were playing around...that in itself was interesting...

...Cookie J-38 was leaping and rolling around with someone else...at first I thought it was Mako J-39, because they are buddies...but it wasn't - it was Se-Yi-Chn J-45 whose family is part of Group A!...Cookie J-38 and Se-Yi-Chn J-45...
...not sure who breached...
...it seemed that Rhapsody J-32 was 'in charge' of these boys...Cookie J-38, Se-Yi-Chn J-45 and Rhapsody J-32...

...while the rest of Group B was 'taking a nap'...here's some of them...
...as the whales approached Thieves Bay Marina...
People Love to See the Whales!
And today they did!

Thank You Whales!
