July 19th through morning of July 25th
...some bits and pieces from all this activity:
July 19th Granny J-2, Onyx L-87, the J14s, K14s, and the K13s went up but the J19s stayed down island with the rest of J pod...Cookie J-38 went up island with Granny...
...the J14s and the K14s were goofing around...even Lobo surfaced in the middle of them at one point...
July 20th the same group as yesterday came down island...
...by late in the day whales went up island...
...K pod calls were heard over Lime Kiln and Orca Sound hydrophones and a few minutes after, a couple faint J Pod calls came over the Lime Kiln hydrophones but that was all...that left a ? as to where J pod had gone...
July 21st whales were coming down from the north...out on Peregrine I only spotted the K13s...it was a while later when Granny J-2, Onyx, the J14s, and the K14s showed up many miles south near Partridge Bank...and they eventually all went up island again...
July 22nd...Granny, Onyx, the J14s and the K14s came down island way ahead of the K13s...
...July 23rd...some Js, Ks and Ls went up island...
...and four changed direction at Open Bay and started to come back down...(thanks Capt. Jim for the call on that one!)...it was the J22s - aka the Cookies - Oreo, DoubleStuf, and Cookie who came back down and with them was Mako J-39!
...The Cookies stayed down with others...but who? I wasn't sure...early in the morning of the 24th, alerted by a friend, I made it to Land Bank...the whales made it up to the park and turned and came back down...I was lucky to have seen them!...it was actually Group B all together!- what a concept!
...just after the whales went down island this bald eagle passed by going north...standing at Land Bank the eagle was below me...
...mid morning others were coming down...two groups about 45 minutes apart...
...this time it was all of Group A (including the J16s) and the K14s...
...when the second group was approaching...well, we knew who it 'had' to be...the rest of K pod and the 19 L pod whales-note added: wondering if the L47s are in here or not - two passes at the lighthouse and not one of them seen-hummm...I only got a glimpse of Cappuccino K-21 but he was here...the rain was starting, making things difficult...oh, but the rain is so needed it is a good thing.
...the K13s with some L pod whales mixed in...Crewser and others were far off shore...
...Sekiu K-22 surfacing with no others...Racer L-72 not too far behind her, also surfacing with no others...but their boys were traveling together behind their moms!
...all went up toward the Fraser River later in the day on the 24th...
which means they'll be coming back down...at some point!

On July 24th Josh McInnes found the L47s heading west from Beechey Head!
Thanks Monika. That clears up that question!
