10-3-15 Another One Joins the Rake Marks Club

...over the last three days...

...a California sea lion eating a Silver salmon!  I think the whales eat Silvers...hummm...maybe those Tranisents need to look a little closer the next time they pass the cove just north of the lighthouse...sorry sea lion...but the salmon are for the whales!...and since it seems a Calif. sea lion has 'taken up residency' at the light...he needs to go back to California.

...was hoping the T137s would make a meal of that California sea lion but they just surprised all the people along the shoreline and went on their way...
...could hardly believe I made it from Land Bank to the lighthouse in time...

Saturday, October 3rd
...the Residents made it to the west side close to dark on the 2nd and in the downpour...could hardly see...and hoped they would wait until this morning...if they came up island...
...6:30 a.m. a few K pod calls!...when I got to the park I could hear echolocation clicks...it was still fairly dark...and then...there they were...a small group coming up...but that didn't last very long...soon they were foraging a bit down and offshore from the park...I did hear J, K, and L pod calls...so that gave me a clue...as well as one image of Crewser...
...after about an hour they began moving back down island, only to turn and come back up island in an hour or so...

...I noticed that K-38 has 'joined the club' of The Rake Marks Club ...I only saw his right side...

...can't wait to see his other side...
Last fall it was Fluke L-105
This year it was DoubleStuf J-34
...then it was Sonata K-35
...and now Comet K-38
...could it be because they are a roudy bunch?!

...no more orcas for me the rest of the day, but a nice surprise of some Pacific white sided dolphins passing the park going down island!
