Wednesday through Friday, September 3-5
Wednesday...
...Patos Island lighthouse and the T65As...
...the rest of the family-left to right: T65A, T65A5, T65A3, T65A4...
...on our way home there was a great eagle photo opp!
Thursday
...orca/black 'n whites...the only ones around were miles and miles away...and off we went on Maya's Westside Charters...out past Race Rocks...who knew how far we'd end up going by the time we got to 'wherever the whales were'...
...oh, and the choppy seas made it all that more...uh...exciting??..:)
...talk about lucky!
...and finally to calmer seas and no window...
...these were some of the T60s...
...they were with the T109s - 'New To Me' whales!!...there are five in their group...and actually I think there is a calf that might be about 2 years old...but I'm not sure...will send images off to the researchers...
...and those two groups were with the T41s...
...later in the day we came back out...to almost the same location...but this time we saw only the T41s and who I believe were T109B and T109B1 (but once again I need to get confirmation on that from the researchers)...
...when we left them they were heading back west...Race Rocks Lighthouse house and the T41s...
...two very long trips...and some very nice whales we did see...
...the Southern Residents had been gone since late on Tuesday...I'd heard that the sport fishing was picking up...maybe the whales will agree...
