...after hearing some of the whales over the hydrophones last night, I knew some had come back down...'but who?' was the question of the day today...
...out on Maya's Westside Charters...we encounter the whales not too far south of Lime Kiln...spread for what seemed to be a mile or more...some were very close to shore...
...one a bit farther from shore
...another porpoising off in another direction...
...for some perspective...
...closing in on a fish!
...all along they were slowly moving up island...there were salmon but it looked to be sparse...the whales were having to really 'work' for their catches it seemed...
...after a while it seemed the kids had their fill...
...and then they played...
...so who was here today?...well, with them being so spread out it wasn't easy to tell but I did get proof of presence of Group A except not of Granny J-2 or Onyx L-87...and I got proof of presence of all of Group B except for the J17s (they were seen heading west with the L12s)...of Group B, I didn't get a proof of presence of Rhapsody J-32...
...but since the whales went up island, and if I don't hear them on the hydrophones tonight, then there should be a chance to see who is present tomorrow...
...the whales always keep me wondering about something!
