6-6-16 Where Are Yesterday's Whales Today?

Monday, June 6th
...last evening ended up with the L Pod whales going down island past the lighthouse and the J and K pod whales up north, split into two groups, going two different directions...
...so today when whales came up island at about 10a.m. it was assumed by many that these were the L Pod whales from yesterday - NOT!  :)
...we think in our terms...the whales think in their terms...and we just can't seem to get it !  :)
...in fact going past the lighthouse were Eclipse J-41 and Nova J-51...mom/grandmother Shachi J-19 was up ahead of them...
...12 minutes later they turned around and came back down island...
...10 more minutes later...
...we could see in the distance many blows of whales coming up island along the shore line but they too turned and headed back down...
...okay on to the next location to see just what were they going to do...

...five hours later the whales came up past the lighthouse and this time they continued north......Granny J-2 was in the lead - but of course :)
...the K12s and Onyx L-87 were the nearest whales to Granny...the Mako J-39 pops up in the middle of the K14s...looked like he and Kelp K-42 were having some social time... they came through moving quickly...

...after passing the lighthouse and out on Peregrine for a late afternoon trip...out of the harbor the seas were just awful (for me) and the whales started to go back down island into even nastier seas...(no!!)...luckily they changed their minds and continued north with some wonderful social time...it was so great to see them looking relaxed and having some 'fun'...

...may they find lots of salmon up toward the Fraser River...

...oh, and the L Pod whales from yesterday were nowhere to be seen today, except for Onyx L-87 who travels with J Pod...
