...it was a busy day keeping track of where everyone was...
...the K13 family group came up island at about 8 a.m. passing the lighthouse by maybe a mile or so and then turned and went back down...
...meanwhile J pod Group B and the 19 L pod whales (aka the Blackjacks) were down island somewhere...
...and when we came out on Maya's Westside Charters we found Group B and all of K pod in a big resting pattern just off the lighthouse...
...by early afternoon Group A, had come back down from the north met up with Group B, who had come back up island...
...J49 was practicing again...today it was spitting water!
...in the middle of it all 4 peregrine falcon fledglings!
...on our first trip we saw two...on our second trip we heard all this noise, so we went to investigate...there were 4 peregrine falcon fledglings...two were over on a rocky point...
...another was on a ledge flapping its wings, but it looked as if he hadn't 'taken the leap' just yet...at one point they all had their mouths open making quite a racket...
...the lighting was good for a better image of the tag still stuck in Scoter K-25...
...not sure who this was...
...I watched the whales at the park until just about dark (at the end of the video clip above)...there were three young couples who arrived on one of the rocks as the whales were beginning to go back down island...at first the couples were rather loud and excited, and then their chatter stopped...I glanced over their way and saw they were all standing there holding on to each other and were completely still, watching the whales...that was pretty neat...
...but what came next was magical for me...as I was walking to my car I passed by these three couples, who were gathering up their things...one of the fellas said, "that was the most emotional moment I have ever experienced." and his words sounded very heart felt...one of the others replied, "and we all saw it together."
...these types of moments are when people have their hearts touched by these most magnificent animals...
...I can't explain it, it just is, and it is just magical...
